We love Trina – yes, we do!
We love Trina – how about you?!
This morning we headed up to San Francisco and got together with Trina for a picnic at Dolores Park. It was a beautiful day and we had a pretty view of the downtown skyline. The boys climbed on the playground and turned themselves into walking grass stains by rolling down a steep grass hill over and over. We ate sandwiches, grapes, baby carrots and potato chips and drank bottled water. It was a perfect picnic, topped off with Trina’s brownies and rice krispy treats. Yum!
The boys always enjoy themselves with Trina because she’s so natural with kids and they feel so comfortable with her. I think Daniel talked to her as much as I did, and seemed to be very chatty today. She is special because she was not only happy to hear about the details of his friends, music institute and judo, but also seemed to be genuinely interested in the plot and characters of Naruto. Then it turned out they also share a love of Star Wars.
At her house, Matteo and I played with her Colorforms set while Trina and Daniel played Star Wars Monopoly. Then they decided to watch Star Wars Episode IV (the original), which I was reminded - I have never seen! Terribly shocking, I know. Since I wanted to visit with Trina and did not watch this time, I actually still have never seen Star Wars.
Trina showed us her new downstairs addition and all the renovations she and Dick have done. It was such a warm and cozy home. When inside, you feel like the house is giving you a hug. She had a lot of her artwork up and family photos. It was all very pretty but also pleasantly lived in. Matteo found all the cat toys and all the candy. Daniel found all the games.
Trina sent us home with so many Disney videos and some cute Star Wars Pez dispensers. Also, some donations to our electronic recycling fundraiser and some early HTML books so I can (eventually) learn to build sites as masterfully as she does. The back of the Volvo was pretty full as we left, as were our hearts! : )
...Ooh, and I just checked her blog and here's her version of our day.
